MTG 2nd Annual meet

MTG 2nd annual meet- July 1,2000   -Petersen Automotive Museum-

The location of our 2nd meet was Petersen Automotive Museum ( www.petersen.org ) dedicated to the interpretive study of the automobile and its influences on our culture and lives. Depicting the evolution of the automobile and its impact on Southern California. Three floors packed with fascinating automotive history.  The cars and motorcycles on display reflect decades of period styles interwoven with technological developments. Home of over 100 race cars, classic cars, hot rods motorcycles, and movie and celebrity cars.
A tour to this museum is an experience of car culture in the US. The presence of a Toyota racecar on display was very interesting; it was the only Japanese manufacturer that had a racecar worthy of the museum. The meet, was a site that's truly historical. When was the last time you saw that many early Celicas? In one parking lot, especially very clean well-restored vehicles. A visit with a very rare fully restored 67 Stout,
belonging to Mike Bingham. Present, were AE86 enthusiast, led by Moto, Jay and Ricky. Visiting us from San Francisco was Boogie and Tiny driving in the only TE27 at the museum. Other friends visiting from San Diego, with their very well restored rides were Jeff Morris, driving a 74 Corona RHD, Tim and Mr. Bob in a 76 Lift back RHD. Who have just dropped in a modified 18rg
earlier that week just in time to join us. And always the ever presence of Dave Ladee. Robert New showed off his 68 2 dr. corona. (Just one of his growing Toyota garage.)

Cabe Toyota, Long Beach, CA The barbecue started at about 2:00pm. We had a few more friends that joined us. Gus Heredia, who shared a lot of his experiences with the 4AGE motors,
and experience in racing. If you need to get started on racing your toys you should talk to him. Bong and Norman (drove in a built TE27) and finally Santos also in a TE27. Early Toyota racing videos were played. And complimentary Ice Cream from Cabe Toyota Parts department finished the event.
Overall the 2nd meet was fun and exciting. We saw a lot of old friends and meet new ones. Finally, at least one day a year we spend time with fellow Toyota enthusiast and share our pride and joy, a place, where Toyota rules!
For our friends who we missed. Hope you can join us next time. Special thanks to Alan, Eric, Jony , Mike B. and all our friends at Cabe Toyota for helping me put this meet together.

Thank you for your support
